HOW THE
ATOMIC CLOCK WEATHER STATION WORKS:
The international
standard for timekeeping and the official national
timepiece, the U.S. Atomic Clock is accurate to ten
billionths of a second per day! This clock, operated by the
National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in
Fort Collin, Colorado, is an electronic device that measures
time by counting Cesium atom oscillations. Cesium atomic
clocks are extremely stable and are unaffected by factors
such as temperature, pressure or humidity.
Using a low frequency
radio transmission from NIST, the U.S. Atomic Clock sends an
accurate time signal across the continental United States.
This Atomic Clock is electronically tuned to the WWVB time
signal, which is the very same frequency that is utilized by
radio and TV stations, railroads and NASA. Recent boosts to
the signal strength have provided for improved reception,
allowing this advanced timepiece to work in your home or
office.
This is why you would
want this incredible clock: The Atomic Clock
AUTOMATICALLY sets itself to the correct time and date
by receiving and decoding the NIST radio signal with an
internal receiver. The Atomic Clock ensures daily accuracy
to the fraction of a second by refreshing the signal several
times a day. The Atomic Clock sets itself to Daylight
Savings Time and back to Standard Time automatically
(feature can be disabled).
Weather
features include weather forecasting with weather tendency
indicator, and three weather icons (Sunny, Sun with Clouds,
and Clouds with Rain). The weather station also has weather
tendency arrows which indicate changes in air pressure. An
arrow pointing up indicates that the air pressure is
increasing and the weather is expected to improve or remain
good, an arrow pointing down indicates that the air pressure
is decreasing and the weather is expected to become worse or
remain poor. No arrow means the pressure is stable. The
weather station also records min/max temp. and indoor
humidity as well as the date, and time at which it was
recorded. These can be reviewed by pressing the 'Min/Max'
button on the front of the unit.
